This book is a collection of four essays on translation theories and practice from Arabic perspective. The first essay Appropriation in Literary Translation was the topic of an oral presentation I gave as a participation in the Translation Day held by the Faculty of Al Alsun (Languages), Ain Shams University on 2nd March, 2015. The second essay Nizar Qabbanis Balqis: Translation into English with an introduction was published in Forum: International journal of interpretation and translation, Seoul: Presses de la Sorbonne Nouvelle, KSCI, 2009. The third essay Farouq Gowedas A Letter to Bush from a Bosniak Girl: Translation into English with an Introduction was published in Fikr Wa Ibda, Egypt, 2011. The fourth essay Against World Literature: The Egyptian Mawwal of Shafiqa and Metwally in the Age of Untranslatability was published in Cairo Studies in June 2014. The first essay is a theoretical frame and each of the three essays starts with an introduction that focuses on translation issues. Footnotes are provided in order to clarify whatever might seem ambiguous for the target reader. Each essay was documented according to the guide for author provided by each journal.
