Kenya's financial sector consists of many institutions some of which will be highlighted in this chapter together with the respective legislation regulating each of the players. An attempt has also been made to define the finance business and coupled with an illustration as to how each of the players serves their role as financial intermediaries. In order to diversify interests, to meet their clients' needs and in an attempt to spread risks most of these financial institutions are slowly developing new products and new modes of conducting businesses. It is hoped that the initiated reforms will be given serious consideration rather than remain in the realm of an assemblage of hollow proposals in order to redeem the regulatory structure of the Kenyan financial system which is currently in some disarray.
