Undertaking comparative studies become more interesting when they are carried out with a focus. In the present research the comparison has been guided by the concept of The Absurd. The experience of the absurd is a universal phenomenon. However the concept and the philosophy of absurd was duly formed by in the west by the philosophers like Camus and Sartre and in the post independent India, it influenced all the major writers writing in English or regional languages. An attempt has been made through this small research to have a comparative study of two great playwrights, namely, Harold Pinter and Vijay Tendulkar, with special reference to their plays The Homecoming and The Vultures respectively. Since both the texts show a marked impact of absurd, I have made an attempt to explore the areas of commonalities and difference in their plays. The study aims to highlight how two different cultural texts resemble each other and how they have some difference because of different socio economic conditions. The interpretation of these texts in the light of absurd, I am sure, would lead to a better understanding of human predicament.
