European pre-modernity knows many reforms. So far, research has mostly been focused on the role of a reform's supporters and in doing so, researchers have often adopted the proponents' interpretation of change as an improvement. In contrast, the present volume focuses specifically on the losers of reforms and aims at analysing the situation of these actors marginalised by new norms, practices and semantics impartially from a historical, psychological and theological perspective.
