This is the first extended study of Euripides' Melanippe Wise and Melanippe Captive, two of his most intriguing fragmentary tragedies and the only known dramatized versions in Greek of the Thessalian Melanippe saga. The book examines both dramas under a new perspective, offering an extensive commentary for testimonies and fragments. It provides new translations and highlights aspects of Euripidean dramaturgy unfamiliar from his extant tragedies.
