There is a tension between national sovereignty and globalization - also in the field of transport. States want to control transboundary transport. At the same time, there economic development depends on it. Therefore, a general freedom of transboundary transport does not exist. Instead, an international legal system of transport, consisting of a large number of treaties, developed. The present book gives a comprehensive overview over this complex field of international law.
