The editor of this book has divided the artworks from around the world into chapters and added selected haiku poems, quotes, descriptive statements, and photo images. The result is a multifaceted homage from the imaginative perspective of modern artists.
Als Antoni Gaudí im Jahre 1883 die Bauleitung der Sagrada Familia in Barcelona übernahm, stand er - ähnlich wie Robinson Crusoe in Daniel Defoes Roman - der Kirche als Institution emotional eher skeptisch gegenüber. Angeregt von intensivem Studium der Liturgie und von einem spirituellen Dialog von Kunst und Natur, fand Gaudí als Architekt den Weg zu seinem Lebenswerk. Auch Robinson war auf seiner Insel in einem Dialog mit der Natur zum Urchristen geworden. In diesem Geist fanden sich anlässlich des 170. Geburtstags von Antoni Gaudí und des 360. Geburtstags von Daniel Defoe 65 Künstler aus 27 Ländern zusammen, um der Natur mit zeitgenössischer Bildhaftigkeit zu begegnen. Der Herausgeber dieses Geschenkbuches gruppiert die Kunstwerke aus aller Welt zu Kapiteln und stellt ihnen ausgewählte Haiku-Poesie, erlesene Zitate, kunstästhetische Aussagen und Fotoillustrationen zur Seite.
