The eight pieces are all well crafted, with underlying jazz roots, but

employing more sophisticated compositional techniques.Throughout,

there is great, engaging counterpoint, a down-home bluesy feel that is

sometimes missing in more composed-out jazz pieces, and a harmonic

and melodic freedom that is rare among published jazz material.Any of

these duos would also work well on a recital program, alone or combined
